Exam Question:
Edges-
"Laura Letinsky uses edges of objects such as tables and shelves and the line where one colour meets another as important features of the composition in her still-life photographs. Jed Devine and Jan Groover use similar compositional devices in their work. Lines formed by the edges of parts of buildings, shadows and silhouettes are an important part in the composition in the photographs and photograms of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy.
Research appropriate sources and produce your own work where edges are an important part of the composition. "
-I have never come across any of the photographers associated with edges. It will be interesting to find out more about them and expand my knowledge on the different types of photographers and their understanding of edges.

Laura Letinsky:

Much of Letinsky's work imply to human presence without including any actual figures. This is because her images include straightforward everyday objects that people would normally use(usually after a meal).

Jan Groover:
Jan Groover is well known for her formalist still life photographs of household utensils. Groover started creating her first photographs in the late 1970's. These were colour diptychs and triptychs depicting vehicles in motion. they were formal images emphasizing time, distance, colour and speed.
In 1978 Groover turned to her kitchen sink for new ideas. She thoroughly changed the subject matter of her photographs, moving from street scenes to still life of household objects used daily.
Groover looked at the objects for their shapes, lines, colour and textures. Many of her photos are put in an effect, sometimes black and white to emphasize the lines and shadows, making the edges more protruding.

I like the way that these pictures are close up so you can't see any other object. The different effects on the pictures make them all stand out and look different.
I like the way how on the last 2 pictures you can see the reflection of other utensils especially on the second to last one.
I like how you can see different shapes in the images such as round, spiky smooth edges.

My Final Piece.
My main idea after picking Edges was to create different types of images and insert them into photoshop and make at least 2 canvases that are full of different types of edges.
Im happy with my progress towards my final piece but i'm convinced that it could have gone better due to the fact that I only created one final piece even though my intention was to create at least 2.
I have learnt many different skills by using photoshop such as, cloning, cropping, quick selection tool and changing the effect on images.
Overall I'm happy with my final piece.
